Gospel artist Kenny Saint Brown, also known as KSB, has opened up about the reason behind the early death of the late Nigerian rapper Olayitan Oladapo, famously known as Dagrin.
In a recent episode of the Hoha podcast, KSB reflected on Dagrin’s verse in her 2010 prayer-themed track, Turn Me Around. She explained that while his lyrics requested fame and success, he never prayed for a long life.
KSB said, “When Dagrin passed, I was heartbroken because God had answered the prayers from that song. I asked God why, and He told me to listen closely to Dagrin’s verse. There was no prayer for long life — only for fame, ‘Mo fe ma gun Bentley,’ and worldwide recognition. God granted all that.”
Dagrin tragically died on April 22, 2010, after a car accident near Mushin, Lagos. He collided with a stationary truck in the early hours of the morning and was found unconscious. Despite efforts to save him at Lagos University Teaching Hospital, he passed away days later.
Widely acknowledged as a pioneer of indigenous rap in Nigeria, Dagrin’s influence and popularity surged even more after his untimely death.
