Media mogul and former Bayelsa East senator, Ben Murray-Bruce, has expressed strong belief that Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, could one day govern Osun State.
In a recent edition of his “Common Sense” series, Murray-Bruce spoke about Davido’s deep-rooted political background and growing interest in governance. He praised the award-winning musician not just for his global achievements in music but also for his hidden potential in political leadership.
“David Adeleke, the global phenomenon better known as Davido, is undeniably an international artist and a true Nigerian superstar. He stands as one of Nigeria’s most valuable cultural exports. However, beneath the surface of this music icon lies a side that many may not be aware of,” Murray-Bruce noted.
According to Murray-Bruce, Davido once described himself as a “political animal” during a private conversation—an insight the senator believes shouldn’t be surprising, given the Adeleke family’s established political legacy in Osun State.
Davido’s uncle, Ademola Adeleke, is the current Governor of Osun State, while another uncle, the late Isiaka Adeleke, was also a former governor of the state during the Babangida era.
“Considering all of these, the thought that Davido himself could one day aspire to become the Governor of Osun State seems more like a potential trajectory. Especially if his political inclinations are nurtured and strategically channelled,” Murray-Bruce added.
“Davido, if you run, I predict you will win,” he concluded confidently.
