Nigerian comedian Aderombi Adedayo Martin, popularly known as Deeone, has openly criticized the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for the way it handled the recent arrest of internet personality Martins Vincent Otse, widely recognized as Verydarkman.
According to a report by Legit.ng, the EFCC recently broke its silence regarding the controversy surrounding Otse’s arrest. The agency stated that the social media critic had been invited on multiple occasions to respond to various petitions accusing him of financial misconduct.
The EFCC explained that all attempts to reach Otse were made through his known addresses and communication channels. However, they claimed he repeatedly ignored these summonses.
In a video posted online, Deeone expressed his skepticism about the commission’s approach. He questioned why Otse was given several invitations instead of being apprehended immediately, as seen in previous cases involving public figures like businessman E-Money and socialite Cubana Chiefpriest.
The former Big Brother Naija contestant asked whether Otse was being treated differently and sarcastically suggested that the EFCC should adopt the same invitation strategy for all future suspects.
