Yoruba Nollywood actress Bimpe Akintunde has expressed deep sorrow over the sudden passing of popular plus-sized activist and body-positivity advocate, Monalisa Stephen.

News of Monalisa’s death was first shared by Seun Oloketuyi, the Chief Executive Officer of Best of Nollywood (BON), who announced it via Instagram on Wednesday. According to Oloketuyi, Monalisa passed away in Lagos on Tuesday, May 13th, after a reported struggle with low blood sugar and internal bleeding. He added that her immediate younger sister confirmed the tragic news.

Reacting emotionally to the news, Bimpe Akintunde took to social media to mourn her late friend and lamented that Monalisa did not reach out during her difficult moments. She questioned why the late activist suffered in silence, expressing how unexpected and painful the loss feels.

“Monaaaaaa, you go at least call or message me when you were going through all of that naaaaaa, haaaaaahaaaaaaaa Eleyi ba mi lojiji.
Sebi me n you dey talk naaaa? I pray your sweet soul find eternal Rest Aburo mi daada
My condolences to @iamolasamuel and Family, A o ni ri iru e mo lola oluwa oba.
Goodnight, Monalisa Stephen”.

Her heartfelt tribute has stirred emotions online, with fans and friends of Monalisa also expressing shock and paying their respects.
