  • Aproko Doctor, is a Nigerian doctor and fitness advocate.
  • He has voiced disappointment with the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).
  • The disappointment stems from JAMB’s explanation regarding the high failure rates in the 2025 UTME.

Nigerian doctor and fitness advocate, Egemba Chinonso Fidelis—popularly known as Aproko Doctor—has expressed disappointment with the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) following its explanation for the widespread failure in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

JAMB’s Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, attributed the mass failure to technical issues that affected 157 examination centres across Lagos and the South-East region, impacting a total of 379,997 candidates.

The board announced that the affected candidates would be given a second chance to sit for the exam, with the retake scheduled to begin on May 16, 2025.

According to the results, more than 1.5 million candidates scored below 200 out of a total 400 marks. Only 4,756 candidates (0.24%) achieved scores of 320 and above, while 7,658 candidates (0.39%) scored between 300 and 319. Prof. Oloyede apologised for the setback and assured the public that steps are being taken to avoid such issues in future examinations.

In an official statement, JAMB said:

“Man proposes, God disposes! It has been established that a technical glitch affected 157 centres out of the 887 centres in the 2025 UTME. This was basically responsible for the general low performance of the candidates scheduled to sit the examination in those centres. As such, all the affected candidates will be contacted to reprint their examination slips towards retaking their examinations starting from 16th May, 2025.”

Reacting to the statement, Aproko Doctor posted on social media:

“When you’re asked to describe the anyhowness, show them this tweet from a national agency.”

His comment quickly gained attention, resonating with many Nigerians who are frustrated by systemic lapses in national institutions.
