Nigerian social media was recently set abuzz with drama and humor after old tweets from Toye, the latest artist signed to Davido’s label, resurfaced online.
According to a report by Legit.ng, award-winning Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has welcomed a fresh talent, Toye, to his music label. The announcement was made on April 28 via Davido’s social media platforms, where he simply posted, “Just signed @toye.”
Toye becomes the second artist Davido has signed in 2025, joining the likes of Boi Chase, Logos Olori, and Morravey. Fans are eager to see what the newcomer will contribute to the label’s success.
However, shortly after the announcement, some fans dug up Toye’s old tweets, which revealed that he had previously expressed admiration for Davido’s longtime industry rival, Wizkid.
Several posts from 2023 and 2024 showed Toye openly praising Wizkid, even expressing hope that the star would one day acknowledge his music. In one tweet, he even referred to Wizkid as his “GOAT”—an acronym for “Greatest of All Time.”
