- The lawmaker stated that NNPP has pauperised our people in Kano, hence massive defection to APC
Alhassan Doguwa, chairman of the house of representatives committee on petroleum resources (downstream), says Rabiu Kwankwaso, national leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) is hallucinating about the yet to come 2027 elections.
The lawmaker also said the 2023 presidential candidate of NNPP has no morality to speak for northerners.
Doguwa, who was reacting to comments made by the 2023 NNPP presidential candidate, said the All Progressive Congress (APC) will unseat the ruling party in Kano during the 2027 elections.
On Thursday the former Kano governor, received a large number of All Progressive Congress (APC) members who decamped to the NNPP in the state.
During the occasion, Kwankwaso said only his party can rescue the country, advising all citizens to join efforts to bring about change.
“Nigerians and northerners in particular have suffered enough and no amount of pressure, fear and deceit will prevent them from changing the situation,” he said.
He also praised the former APC members for joining the NNPP, saying they now understand the need to leave their previous party after seeing the current problems in the country, including insecurity, poverty, and hunger.
In a statement on Friday, Doguwa said Kwankwaso’ assertion was only a whimsical statement applicable to himself.
The lawmaker said that the NNPP national leader was hallucinating about what will happen in 2027 elections.
“Kwankwaso is yet to recover from the defeat he suffered at the hands of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu during the 2023 presidential election. Hence, he is hallucinating about 2027,” Doguwa said.
“Kwankwaso should stop the hallucinations and face his imminent retirement from the political scene in 2027, he took his hallucination to the moon when he said Nigerians are tired of APC and will change it in 2027.
“As we all know, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is not leaving any stone unturned in his quest to return our country to the path of progress and prosperity for the benefit of all.
Doguwa said Tinubu took over 16 months ago amidst a severely struggling economy, adding that since taking office, he has diligently addressed underlying fiscal issues to revamp the economy.
“Under President Tinubu, Doguwa said the country has attracted foreign direct investments worth more than $30 billion in 16 months,” he said.
“Tinubu has paid a forex backlog of $7 billion and cleared the ways and means of over N30 trillion he inherited from the last administration.
” President Tinubu reduced the debt service ratio from 97 to 68 per cent and kept our foreign reserve at $37 billion.
“Only this week, the Economic Stabilisation Bills have been transmitted to us in the National Assembly to stimulate our productive capacity and create more jobs and prosperity in the country.”
He asked Kwankwaso to “free and stop remote controlling” Abba Yusuf, governor of Kano.
“The disgruntled NNPP government has already lost focus and fell out with the good people of Kano State,” Doguwa said.
“No matter the noise Kwankwaso makes, the APC in Kano is already poised to unseat the kangaroo NNPP government in Kano State come 2027 following the non-performance, loss of people’s confidence and breach of electoral confidence of the NNPP.”
The lawmaker said Tinubu has achieved remarkable progress in security, adding that his policies are yielding fruit and will soon bring lasting economic relief.
