Hassan Idris has contributed to the educational and community development of Benue State in all ramifications. As the Chairman of the Benue Hill-Top Creative Arts Foundation Branch, he led his team and students of Government Girls College, Makurdi, Government Secondary School 72 Barracks, and Saint Mary’s Secondary School, Adikpo to Niger State, Minna, where the headquarters of Hill-Top Creative Arts Foundation, Nigeria, is located.
The young man, Hassan Idris is a graduate of Sociology from the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Nigeria. He hails from Kogi State but lives in Wadata Community, Makurdi in Benue State. He applied for the Commonwealth Shared Scholarship to study Gender and Development at the University of Sussex, UK. However, he didn’t get the scholarship but was offered unconditional admission by the University of Sussex, UK. Therefore, I’m calling on all well meaning Nigerians, most especially his parental lineage (Igala and Ebira clan), Kogi State Government , to swiftly come through on his behalf..
From his maternal lineage there is the distinguished Senator,in person of Natasha H Akpoti an amazon at her best, Hauwa Sadiq – a personality to reckon with if not for anything but for the fact I bared witness to her rise from the position of the head prefect of my alma mater and all the way out to excel through the four walls of an academy, she’s a ‘Doctorate Holder’, and the renowned Professor of Physics Abdelghaffar Amoka coupled with numerous personalities not mentioned.
His Paternal clan have prestigious personalities whom have made laudable and remarkable impact all over the universe, such as the distinguished Dr Ibrahim Wada, OON , Capt Idris Ichalla Wada , Murtala Yakubu Ajaka Ordinary President , and Abdullahi O Haruna Haruspice .These are personalities enough to reckon with out of the numerous men and women of the Igala lineage making their people and Nigeria as a nation proud. They’ve represented not only the tribe, but Nigeria and humanity as a whole. We’re all familiar with the popular ‘Wada family’ and the sole impact of their brave sons towards the aviation, medical and political history of the country and world at large.
The distinguished Alh Murtala Ajaka we all know, contested for a gubernatorial position of the state. The ordinary President, in person of Ahmed Isah who runs a popular humanright FM in the heart of Nigeria is one personality of a kind as well as the fearless activist, Austin Okai who stands a nightmare to political bandwagons and corrupt personalities. The distinguished Publisher and Editor in Chief World Entourage Magazine in person of Abdullahi Haruna who has made huge impact in the literal field, journalism and the lives of the youths is one person not to do without. Infact, they all proved out the truth about the Igala people and the value they owe to education, truth and justice. Little wonder, Hassan is no different in walking the steps… A proof.
Therefore, with such huge potential to show for, I do suggest a ‘come together’ of his kins men and women, even I who is not affiliated with Hassan either by tribe, blood or ‘political will’, took it upon myself as a challenge to see him succeed as I would for a blood relation who so deserves it. The most amazing thing in the world to me, is to grace a child of a common man stand out, in the midst of all challenges. He wasn’t born with a ‘silver spoon’, perhaps, it is not forbidden for him to change the narrative afterall…. Being the first graduate of his family, his story is proof that the son of a common man, will ‘someday rise above expectations’. I’m a witness to the subtle rise of the young man Hassan, and till the end a proud one. What did strikes me by amazement is that the institution he chose (University of Sussex) is not an easy catch for any, not even for top UK personalities, same goes for similar institutions such as university of Edinburgh in Scotland, university of St Andrews, Oxford university, Cambridge university and the rest of them.
More likened to institutions in Germany, the UK counterparts, are tough in admitting students to their institutions. You must be highly proven to qualify to attend public institutions in the UK or Germany. For Hassan to have been given an unconditional admission in the University of Sussex, proves all assertions about his personality.. He’s a genius and an institution that will go all routes to see such individual grace its four walls . I had tried the hardest to get me some sleep, but my both eyes have refused sleep because I’m hell bent on thinking about the young man. Hassan must attend this ‘difficult Sussex’, he got due to his brilliant prowess. He had tried on numerous account, got rejected, this time around he succeeded but left to face financial constraint, which is quite common an experience for one from such a common and humble background.
Therefore, I had suggested a fundraiser either a GoFundMe or seasoned; scholarship, sponsorship or grant on his behalf. By suggestion, the GoFundMe had been listed as the ultimate tool to seeing Hassan attend his dream university; ‘The University of Sussex’ . I am privy to the fact that if given the opportunity, the young man will make the world proud. It cost nothing for over five hundred plus and above populace to tender wholly a pledge to seeing the young man achieve his dream. It won’t take anything from us as a people to give out a token each to see him get there.
Here is a brief summary and achievements of the 26 year old upper credit degree holder, that will delight your day:
“University of Sussex has been his dream University right from his undergraduate days, and he has applied and gotten rejections so many times, but he didn’t stop applying until he was given an offer of admission.
