Super Eagles striker Paul Onuachu could be on his way out of Trabzonspor, as the club has reached an agreement in principle with Standard Liege for the signing of Denis Dragus, Soccernet.ng reports.
Onuachu joined Trabzonspor at the start of the season after a disappointing campaign with Southampton, and the Nigerian striker has impressed. The Nigerian striker has registered nine goals and three assists in 17 league appearances for the Turkish side.
Following his performance for the club, the Nigeria international’s future has been in the balance. There are talks that Trabzonspor want to retain his services. However, the €15 million price-tag has been the draw back.
Trabzonspor do not have the finances to pay that kind of amount for a 29-year-old. But there were talks that they were willing to explore the option of a loan.
However, it seems Trabzonspor have given up on signing Onuachu. This is as A spor have confirmed that Trabzonspor have agreed on a deal with Standard Liege for the permanent signing of Romanian striker Denis Dragus.
The striker who is currently on loan at Gaziantep has registered eleven goals and one assist in the Super Lig this season. And it appears his purchase means that Onuachu will leave Trabonspor at the end of the campaign.
Nevertheless, the Super Eagles’ star’s next destination should be made know before the end of the campaign. Still, a Southampton return looks bleak.
