Super Eagles midfielder Frank Onyeka has drawn a comparison between Napoli forward Victor Osimhen and Brentford FC striker Ivan Toney, as reported by Soccernet.ng.
The Brentford midfielder, who has played alongside both strikers at club and international levels, finds it straightforward to make his assessment.
In an interview with Sky Sports UK, Onyeka, who has donned the colours of the Bees alongside Toney, lauded his versatility, noting his ability to adapt to different positions, even in midfield.
In contrast, Onyeka describes the former LOSC Lille forward as a pure goal-poacher and a lone striker who relishes physical battles with defenders.
“Ivan [Toney] is an all-round player; he can move around the pitch, even drop into midfield,” says Onyeka.
“[Victor] Osimhen is like a target man; he wants to challenge defenders and win every ball. Both are exceptional strikers.”
Toney and Osimhen have both attracted interest from top European clubs—like Manchester United and Chelsea—who are seeking to strengthen their squads.
In fact, Osimhen and Toney are among the priority targets for Arsenal in the upcoming 2024 summer transfer window, hinting at potential moves away from their current clubs.
