Operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC Kano command, have arrested an 85-year-old suspected kidnapper, Ibrahim Usman, at Yar’adua quarters, Rimin Kebe, Ungogo LGA.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, SC Ibrahim Idris Abdullahi, who made this known in a statement, said the suspect abducted the victim, a 3-year-old boy who is a child in his neighbourhood.
He said the 85-year-old suspect, Ibrahim Usman, attempted to hide him in his friend’s residence situated at Hotoro bye-pass in Kano State, but upon suspecting a foul play, the friend rejected keeping the boy in his custody and decided to alert residents where the suspect lived at Rimin Kebe, who had been looking for the missing boy.
According to him, “This development led the suspect to run away, and he was later picked up by personnel of the Corp’s Ungogo division.
“Worthy of note is that the suspect had collected the victim’s phone number for the last 2 months but never called him for once,” SC Abdullahi said.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, however, revealed that the investigation into the case has reached an advanced stage and, upon conclusion, the suspect will be charged to court.
