Manchester United continued their horrifying form at the weekend with a loss to Brighton and Hove Albion. In fairness to the Red Devils, Brighton are never an easy side to face. Therefore, a loss is not to be ashamed of. However, the shame comes from the lack of fight United had, especially at home.
Erik ten Hag is known to blame everybody but himself. Following the same theme, he has ridiculed Brighton for the money they’ve spent, which is ignorant to the fact their squad cost only a fraction of his squad. But that’s a story for a different day.
Instead, Erik ten Hag has praised his players, and he has stuck by them. This is worthy of applaud as it takes a leader to step up and support his troops, particularly when they are subject to mistreatment from the fan-base and the media.
Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag pinpoints 4 players after Brighton loss
According to the Mirror, the Dutch manager has single our four players for praise. After the 3-1 loss to Brighton, Ten Hag praised the performances of Hannibal Mejbri, Diogo Dalot, Marcus Rashford and Rasmus Hojlund. The first on the list scored United’s only goal of the match, but the last two combined for a disallowed goal (which was justifiedly ruled out by VAR).

Certainly, if there were to be any diamonds in the rough, it’s these four players. Dalot and Rashford have played well in the last two losses for United, so they aren’t to blame. Further, Hojlund showed signs of promise before being subbed off (which was a bad decision by Ten Hag, in my opinion).
The point to be taken is that there are signs of positivity for Manchester United. They are not down in the dumps completely like Chelsea. There are some positive roots which Ten Hag must water to return United to the form they’re capable of.
