Starting Monday, lanes along I-10/I-12 will be closed for work on the new College Drive exit, the state Department of Transportation and Development said Thursday.
The closures are scheduled for March 20-24 to allow crews to grind and restrip the roadway, the DOTD said.
In addition to the temporary lane closures, the westbound ramp of I-12 from Essen Lane will be closed Monday and Tuesday from 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. Drivers are advised to divert onto I-10 westbound at Essen Lane.
The lane closures are planned for:

The $52.3 million project will realign existing westbound I-12 traffic to more closely follow the eastbound alignment of I-12, the Department of Transportation and Development said.
“It will span both eastbound and westbound I-12 with a new westbound I-10 bridge, allowing westbound traffic to exit to College Drive without crossing interstate main traffic,” the said department in a statement on Thursday.
Plans for a new College Drive exit and I-10/I-12 split: State transportation officials broke ground on Tuesday for a new College Drive exit off Interstate 10 in Baton Rouge. The new design aims to remove the current college exit that requires drivers on I-10 to abruptly merge across multiple lanes.

The College Drive exit project is part of a multi-phase project that will extend I-10 from La. 415 in the community of West Baton Rouge to divide I-10/12 in the community of East Baton Rouge.
The project is expected to be completed in early 2024, weather permitting.
