According to the American Kennel Club, French bulldogs are America’s favorite dogs today. Would you like to take part? Kate, an 11-year-old French bulldog, is available for adoption in southern Louisiana by the French Bulldog Rescue Network.
But be warned: there are things you should know about Kate.
First, Kate is hearing impaired and due to “limited buttock mobility” needs to be carried up and down stairs and not allowed to jump off furniture.
She takes daily thyroid medication which requires regular checking of levels and she has multiple allergies and chronic dry eye which requires a drop of cyclosporine 2% in her right eye twice a day.

Oh, and the reason she’s in foster care? She bit a child.
Still, she loves to play, is housetrained, and always up for a bit of fun (unless it’s going up or down stairs).
“Even though Kate has a number of health issues – hypothyroidism, hearing impairment, allergies, dry eyes and limited posterior mobility – she would never let anything hold her back!” said her French Bulldog Rescue Network report.
“Kate obviously doesn’t know she’s considered an older dog. She loves to play! Kate takes her time wrestling with her foster sister, but she loves toys that she can easily shred, like paper and cotton. She might have a hobby making confetti for you when you are in need… Kate has a history of biting and requires a strong pack leader and never to be around small children. She must be supervised during feeding and when toys are present.
But she can also be sweet and good-natured, at least according to her foster mother.

“Kate has such a cute face, especially with her tongue hanging out,” she wrote. “She loves her baths and being close to her owner. Kate can take short walks as she tires easily due to her hind legs being a little wobbly. She is just a love and everyone who meets her just has to give her some puppy love.”
After 31 years, French Bulldogs have dethroned Labrador Retrievers to become America’s new favorite dog breed.
“They’re funny, friendly, loving little dogs,” Patty Sosa, spokeswoman for the French Bull Dog Club of America, told the Associated Press. “They offer a lot in a small package.”
