An 11-year-old Georgia girl was killed in her sleep on Tuesday when she was hit by a stray bullet that went through her bedroom window.
The shot was fired right outside the young girl’s Spalding Heights home in a suspected gang feud around 1 a.m., according to the county sheriff’s office.
“One of the bullets fired at the intended target missed the victim, went through the victim’s bedroom window and hit her, killing her instantly,” said Sheriff Darrell Dix.
Investigators are on the hunt for 22-year-old Kionta Parks, who they believe pulled the trigger.

“Everything suggests it was a gang related shooting and he was shooting at another person who was pulling a rifle into the parking lot from about 100 yards away just spraying bullets,” Dix told Fox 5 Atlanta.
Parks, who has a long history of violent crimes, is considered “armed and dangerous,” Dix said.
“That’s just how he is. He’s a monster,” says the sheriff.

Several of the charges stem from a February 14 shooting at the same apartment complex that police believe Parks was tied to.

The girl’s name was not released, but Dix confirmed that she is originally from Louisiana.
“She was a beautiful young girl, very popular, very talented, and I think she was loved very much by the people who knew her and were around her,” Dix said.
“When you see all that potential being wiped away because some idiot decides he wants to go into an apartment complex and starts shooting randomly at someone because they belong to a gang or because they feel like they’ve been wronged before whether it was a week ago, a year ago, or two hours ago, it’s just absolutely ridiculous. It is ridiculous.”
The young girl is the second Georgia child to be killed by gunfire while sleeping in her bedroom in just eight days.
Ten-year-old Damarion Byrd died after several gunmen fired on his trailer in Baldwin County, WSBTV reported.
Several arrests were made in the murder.
