BATON ROUGE — Kim Mulkey and LSU women’s basketball have made it their goal to get through the second round of the 2023 NCAA tournament when the postseason begins next weekend.
The No. 3 Tigers (28-2), who meet the No. 14 Hawaiians at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center on Friday, are beginning their run to reach their goal and maybe beyond. The selection committee announced the game during the Selection Sunday Show.
Georgia faced LSU in the quarterfinals of the SEC Women’s Basketball Tournament on Friday, March 3, 2023 at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena in Greenville, SC. Louisiana State University forward Angel Reese (10) cheers on her team.
In Mulkey’s first season at Baton Rouge, LSU won 26, the most games the program had won in 14 years, but their magical season ended in disappointment when Ohio State upset the Tigers at home in the second round.

LSU should rediscover the motivation in March Madness
After being eliminated by the Tennessee Lady Vols in the semifinals of the SEC tournament last week, the Tigers are trying to reestablish themselves and their identities.
The story goes on
Mulkey said the team had a positive attack on what she described as an “intense” week between her crash in Greenville and selection Sunday.
Outcome Prediction
LSU 89, Hawaii 64: LSU is a mismatch for the Warriors in almost every position. Reese is going to have a big day and expects good defense from Jasmine Carson, Alexis Morris and Flau’jae Johnson at the perimeter.
