After being bedridden for the past two years, Teretha Hollis-Neely finally returned to the TLC program in 2017. She had not previously been seen in public since 2015.
She was a far cry from her previous role as representative of Detroit’s Healthy Eating Program; She now weighed over 700 pounds and was oxygen dependent.

Teretha Hollis-Neely Weight Loss Update
Teretha Hollis-Neely had intentions of losing additional weight, but ended up losing 210 pounds in the first four months of the program. This made her eligible for weight loss surgery.
Compared to her original weight, Hollis-Neely suffered a total weight loss of 300 pounds as a result of the surgery. She saw that her blood pressure had normalized even though she was still exercising in bed.
She admitted she had tried to get out of bed for the first time in years after being able to sit up in bed for the first time in years.
Her husband Derek took care of her regularly, but because she was so heavy, he was unable to physically help her.
After an amazing 339 pounds weight loss during the year and episode, Teretha ended the year weighing 441 pounds. She needs some support to stand up. Still, in her 2020 follow-up episode, she admitted that she can’t get out of bed.
Despite her best efforts to stay fit and healthy, she managed to gain 30 pounds in just a month. The TLC star also underwent surgery to relieve the lymphedema that had developed in her legs. She then enrolled in a rehabilitation center where she eventually rediscovered her ability to walk.
