A woman has been airlifted after suffering a possible stroke while on a Galveston cruise

Galveston, Texas (KTRK) – A woman is in hospital after being rescued by the Coast Guard by plane from a cruise ship about 50 miles from Galveston.

Controllers received the evacuation request shortly after 9 p.m. Monday from the crew of the Royal Caribbean cruise ship Allure of the Seas.

Crews reported that the 57-year-old woman was unconscious and reportedly suffering from a possible stroke.

The helicopter crew transferred the passenger and the ship’s nurse to the University of Texas Medical Branch on the island.
