Indian CSGO Team Beats Pakistan and Bangladesh to Qualify for 14th World Esports Championship 2022

Indian CSGO team won the South Asian Regional Qualifiers of the 14th World Esports Championships after defeating Pakistan and Bangladesh in Semi-Finals and Finals respectively. The team recorded two consecutive and identical victories with 2-0 scorelines and made their way into the World Esports Championships.

The Indian CSGO roster has defeated Pakistan with ’16-6′ and ’16-4′ across two maps in Semi-Finals and continued their winning rings by beating Bangladesh with the scores of ’16-7′ and ’16-5′ in the Finals. The five-men CS: GO roster will be accompanied by prominent Tekken 7 athlete Hitesh “rcool” Khorwal and popular eFootball athlete Hemnath “peshemak7” Kommu, who will be representing Team India in the next stage.

Hitesh and Hemanth have confirmed their slots for WEC by crowning the National Esports Championships (NESC) 2022, conducted by the Esports Federation of India (ESFI) in early 2022.

Indian CSGO Lineup to Represent South Asia at 14th IESF World Esports Championship 2022

Indian CS: GO team named Wicked Gaming will now represent the South Asian Region after winning the regional qualifiers at the upcoming global event.

The CS: GO lineup of Indian Team – Wicked Gaming is as follows:

  • Ritesh “Defaulter” Sarda – IGL
  • Shuvajyoti “Mcg1LLzZz” Chakraborty
  • Anshul “KiiLSwitCh” Adardkar
  • Hrishikesh “Crazy_Gamer” Shenoy
  • Harsh “lynX” Jain

This isn’t the first time that lineup has competed in a such major global tournament. The same roster represented India in the previous edition which was held in Eilat, Israel. But the event did not fare well for the players as they ended up in eighth place despite giving their very best.

Celebrating and Reacting to their win, Ritesh Sarda, captain of the Indian CS: GO team said, “It feels amazing to represent India again at the World Esports Championships in back-to-back years. We definitely want to improve on our performances from last year and have been working very hard to do so. The team has done very well in showcasing its qualities in game while prevailing in all these qualifiers but the WEC final will be a stern test on a much higher level and we want to match that. I have high hopes from the tournament and we want to bring some glory from it back home.”

The 14th IESF World Esports Championships 2022 edition will feature a massive prize pool of $500,000 which will be split between six gaming titles including CS: GO, Dota 2, Tekken 7, eFootball, PUBG Mobile, and Mobile Legends: Bang Bang. More than 120 teams and 700 esports athletes will be taking part in the upcoming 2022 edition of WEC which is set to take place in Bali, Indonesia from 29 November to 12 December 2022.
